· You can help reduce the days of work missed by your employees and workers' compensation claims…
Just a reminder to all business owner's to check their first aid kits are well stocked…many minor scrapes, cuts, and burns can lead to an employee missing work because he/she is not treated immediately or properly at the job site or in the workplace.· Common Avoidable Costly Error Business Owner's Make…
The business owner needs to set the rules for the stocking and availability of a well-stocked first aid kit. If your employees are working in an area with no running water… be sure to include plenty of sanitary wipes, clean cloths, to help stop blood flow, and a bottle of fresh water in your first aid kit….Don’t forget to include a couple of bottles of eyewash. A minor incident such as getting dust in the employee's eyes, and then not flushing the eyes with a good cleaning solution immediately, can result in major problems; with many days of work missed and lots of workers' compensation paper work to be filed.
One other point that I want to mention is that many workers do not have well stocked first aid kits in their homes…so don’t hesitate to offer a bottle of eyewash, a tube of antibacterial ointment, and some band aides for the employee to take home.
Remember if the employee doesn't get proper treatment, it will become a bigger problem for you!
The old adage “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”…still holds true.
